In-House Primary Home Care

This program is a nontechnical, medically related personal care service provided to adults whose health problems cause them to be functionally limited in performing activities of daily living, according to a statement of medical need. Our tasks include:

Personal care

Bathing

  1. drawing water in sink, basin, or tub

  2. hauling or heating water

  3. laying out supplies

  4. assisting in or out of tub or shower;

  5. sponge bathing and drying

  6. bed bathing and drying

  7. tub bathing and drying

  8. providing standby assistance for safety

Dressing

  1. dressing the client

  2. undressing the client; and

  3. laying out clothes

Meal Preparation

  1. cooking a full meal

  2. warming up prepared food

  3. planning meals

  4. helping prepare meals

  5. cutting client's food for eating

Feeding/Eating

  1. spoon-feeding

  2. bottle-feeding

  3. assisting with using eating and drinking utensils and adaptive devices, not including tube feeding

  4. providing standby assistance or encouragement

Grooming, shaving, or oral care

  1. shaving;

  2. brushing teeth

  3. shaving underarms and legs, when requested;

  4. caring for nails

  5. laying out supplies

Routine hair or skin care

  1. washing hair

  2. drying hair

  3. assisting with setting, rolling, or braiding hair, not including styling, cutting, or chemical processing of hair

  4. combing or brushing hair

  5. applying nonprescription lotion to skin

  6. washing hands and face

  7. applying makeup

  8. laying out supplies

Toileting

  1. changing diapers

  2. changing colostomy bag or emptying catheter bag

  3. assisting on or off bedpan

  4. assisting with the use of a urinal

  5. assisting with feminine hygiene needs

  6. assisting with clothing during toileting

  7. assisting with toilet hygiene, including the use of toilet paper and washing hands

  8. changing external catheter

  9. preparing toileting supplies and equipment, not including preparing catheter equipment; and providing standby assistance;

Transfer

  1. non-ambulatory movement from one stationary position to another, not including carrying

  2. adjusting or changing the client's position in a bed or chair (positioning)

  3. assisting in rising from a sitting to a standing position

Ambulation

  1. assisting in positioning for use of a walking apparatus

  2. assisting with putting on and removing leg braces and prostheses for ambulation

  3. assisting with ambulation or using steps

  4. assisting with wheelchair ambulation and

  5. providing standby assistance

Home management

Cleaning

  1. cleaning up after the client's personal care tasks

  2. emptying and cleaning the client's bedside commode

  3. cleaning the client's bathroom;

  4. changing the client's bed linens and making the client's bed

  5. cleaning floor of living areas used by the client

  6. dusting areas used by the client;

  7. carrying out the trash and setting out garbage for pick up

Transfer

  1. cleaning stovetop and counters

  2. washing the client's dishes

  3. cleaning refrigerator and stove

Laundry

  1. doing hand wash

  2. gathering and sorting

  3. loading and unloading machines in residence

  4. using laundromat machines

  5. hanging clothes to dry

  6. folding and putting away clothes

Shopping

  1. preparing a shopping list

  2. going to the store and purchasing or picking up items

  3. picking up medication

  4. storing the client's purchased items

Clients Daily life

Escorting

  1. accompanying the client outside the home to support the client in living in the community

  2. arranging for transportation, not including direct client transportation

  3. accompanying the client to a clinic, doctor's office, or location for medical diagnosis or treatment

  4. waiting in the doctor's office or clinic with an client if necessary due to client's condition or distance from home
